Our Logo We wanted our logo to represent Palmerston North and the Manawatu, and collectively decided to approach the design students at Freyberg High School to develop something meaningful for us based on our shared vision. This design was created by Matthew Chamberlain, a Year 13 Design student and the Deputy Head Boy at Freyberg High School in 2017. It was selected due to the simplicity of the overall look, but the complexity of the symbolism within it that truly acknowledged our vision and our community. The Pikorua (the Māori triple twist) represents eternal energy and pathways of learning. It is unrelenting.
The Pikorua has been turned on its side to form the Ruahine Ranges seen from east Palmerston North and the meandering Manawatu River that hugs the city.
The horizon line crosses through the Pikorua, revealing the collective success our Palmerston North East Community of Learning is aiming toward. It doubles as a bridge, representing the ongoing partnerships in the community. |
